Community Outreach: Trauma Informed Yoga & Mindfulness
Loyola Marymount University | Saturday, September 12 (10am - 5pm) & Sunday, September 13th (9am -1pm)
This two-day professional development intensive is designed to equip teachers and practitioners with the practical tools to bring yoga and mindfulness into their local community. Moving beyond personal practice, participants will engage in a systematic process of identifying specific populations and local organizations who may benefit from yoga and mindfulness programming.
Through a curriculum rooted in evidence-based research and the ethics of service, attendees will formulate a comprehensive proposal detailing offerings, methodologies, and program structures. This training culminates in pitch presentations and simulated "outreach calls," allowing participants to practice their delivery and refine their message in a supportive environment.
By the end of this two-day session, instructors and advocates will leave with a completed research-backed proposal and the practical confi dence to initiate impactful partnerships within their local communities.
This the first module of the 50 hour Yoga, Mindfulness, and Social X Certificate (50 hours)
Participation-based training including discussion, reflection, mindfulness practices, and proposal development. Participants who complete the program are eligible for 10 hours of Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (YACEP).
Training Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Articulate Ethical Foundations: Evaluate the role of Anekatavada (pluralism) and social justice in the context of ethical community outreach and service.
Identify Strategic Partnerships: Define specific demographics and local organizations for potential collaboration based on personal outreach goals.
Develop Professional Proposal: Construct a comprehensive service proposal including research-backed narratives, service offerings, rate structures, and formal agreement language.
Deliver Professional Pitch: Demonstrate the ability to initiate professional connections through practiced "pitch calls" that introduce yoga and mindfulness services to sector leaders.
